Cheerleaders Need Love Too

I am sure being a cheerleader is exhausting. At a minimum they need to stay positive when the home team is down. Plus, they have to keep themselves motivated when the score is in favor of the visitors, as well.

I can only imagine the challenge of building a human pyramid or flipping in the air when the conditions are not perfect? Through adversity, they carry on. Smiles, strength, synchronicity and stamina are their qualities. On the field they are at their finest.

We all need a cheerleader in our lives. To push us, motivate us, keep us edging forward, just a bit at a time. Who is your cheerleader? It can be a co-worker, a friend, a spouse, or a parent. It can be our boss or our kid, or our neighbor.

Over the years, I have found that the most successful people in business rely upon a cheerleader for honest advice and an encouraging word. They motivate us when we lose a big client, show us strength when we feel weak, and make us smile when all we want to do is cry. Sometimes, all our cheerleader needs to do is say 4 simple words to us -- "You can do it."

They love us, unconditionally, and never judge us. They make us feel like nothing can go wrong. And even when something goes wrong, our cheerleader helps us forget, and move on. When we feel stupid because of some bonehead thing we said, our cheerleader helps us laugh at ourselves without making us feel guilty.

If you don't have a cheerleader, it's time to find one. And if you have one in your life, never take your cheerleader for granted. Take time to time appreciate your cheerleader, spread the love and be their cheerleader in return. Because even cheerleaders need love and an encouraging word too.
