Ep. 192: Want to become a great speaker and run a successful business? Casey Cornelius can tell you how

Doug- @DJDoug

Strickland- @NiceGuyonBiz

Casey- @caseyjfcfl

Casey Cornelius runs a national agency of collegiate speakers, has spoken on colleges campuses coast-to-coast, and keynoted national leadership conferences. Hear his story on The Nice Guys today

Here are some of the questions we asked Casey today:

How did you get into the college market? Was it because finally you found amarket that stays up late and drinks a lot?

How did you go about growing the company?

-What I find so great about For College for life is the cohesiveness of the team. Can you talk about that for a moment and how that type of culture comes together?

- One of the challenges you have I am sure is that most communication for the entire team is virtual. How do you maintain solid bonds with people when you don’t see them daily in an office for example?

How essential it is to know your market and how can the Nice Guy community find who their ideal customer is?

You bootstrapped your entire business right? How do you know where to spend you money? Marketing, sales, operations. It’s gotta be tricky to walk the financial balance beam.

What do you think sets FCFL apart from hundreds of other organizations out there that provide speakers to your market?

What actionable item can you see entrepreneurs walking away with after listening to you today?

  - How do you achieve personal balance in business and life?

You’re a jui jitsu family right? It that where you get out all your aggression? Because you seem like a really calm and gentle guy.

Jeffrey Hayzlett Interview - C-Suite Influencer

Nice Guys podcast Jeffrey Hayzlett.png

Jeffrey shares his executive insight and commentary on television networks like Bloomberg, MSNBC, Fox Business, and C-Suite TV. He has appeared as a guest celebrity judge on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump for three seasons. Hear all about it on The Nice Guys today.

Here are some things we learned from Jeffrey Hayzlett today:

It's not the lucky who win, it's the relentless.

To succeed in business today you must adapt, change or die.

Empower your employees to make their own decisions. Explain “The Katelyn Rule.”

Spend a few moments talking about Clock Changers and other guys...I love that story Jeffrey.

It's imperative for leaders to focus and cut out the noise.

Create a company cadence that completely reflects what’s important to you.

Adopting a "servant mentality" can help you become a better leader.

Ep. 61 Lower your price, or raise customer service?

Lower prices or better service? Today The Nice Guys make an argument for not lowering your prices and advice on how to attract more customers with better service.

Call to Action- Get on the map! To get pinned on our listener map answer our 2 question survey at www.DougSandler.com, or tweet out to @DJDoug or @NiceGuyonBiz and say "Put me on the map!" with your location. Doug is giving away audio copies of his book "Nice Guys Finish First" to the first 10 people who do!

Tech Talk- www.Squarespace.com is a great website design tool that is very professional and very inexpensive. There are a lot of website design tools available today, but this is one of the best.

Signature advice- Price vs. Value

Businesses make decisions every day regarding where to focus their resources to attract more customers. Lower prices, or better service? We fall squarely in the "better service" camp and here's why:

• Nordstrom's, Ritz-Carlton and Zappos. 3 incredibly successful companies built entirely on customer service.

• Moo.com vs. Vista Print

• Valvoline oil change vs. Jiffy Lube

Please visit our sponsor at www.Moo.com for great business cards and even better customer service.

Ep. 32: A conversation with entrepreneur and author Tim Fargo, creator of the Tweet Jukebox.

A conversation with entrepreneur and author Tim Fargo, creator of the Tweet Jukebox.

Tim has over 190k Twitter followers, he built and sold a successful business for $20 million dollars, and Doug interviewed him while he was in Poland. Tweet Jukebox is a great tool to automate your tweets and has thousands of users after just a couple of months. Here are some of the highlights:

• Tim believes that the only way to be successful is to help others.

• On Twitter- Created or curated content is OK, just make sure your content is compelling.

• Stay consistent to your theme.

• Start off doing your own customer service.

• Many big companies feel they have a marketing problem, but really they have an execution problem. If they would treat their customers better, they wouldn't have to work so hard to get new ones.

• A customer who shows up for price, will also leave for price.

• If you want to start a business, get a job in the industry first. You will be more successful if you learn about a business from the inside before you try to do it yourself.

• Don't open a restaurant just because you like to eat food. Running a restaurant is different from being passionate about eating.

• #1 advice for starting a business- KEEP YOUR OVERHEAD LOW.

Ep. 31 How to Hire the Right People

Please visit our sponsor www.Stickerjunkie.com- Enter promo code "NiceGuys10" to get $10.00 off any sticker order.

Hiring the wrong people can cost much more than you think, not only in lost productivity, but also in poor morale that can spread through your office like a disease. The Nice Guys can help you hire the right people the first time.

• We are moving out of the "Industrial Age" and into the "Social Age".

• Business is no longer just about the widget you are selling, it's about the people.

• Happy employees are more efficient, companies like Google and Zappos have built their culture around this.

• G-Mail came out of Google's 15% time, which encourages employees to spend 15% of their work week on a project they want to do.

• Post-it notes were invented because of 3M's "20% time".

• The IBM philosophy has always been "Hire the right people, point them in the right direction, and get out of their way."

• If you can't trust your people to be motivated, and work hard without a supervisor looking over their shoulder- You've hired the wrong people.

• Hiring the wrong person is one of the most expensive things you can do. Long term, the wrong person will drag the entire company down with poor productivity, and by spreading their bad attitude throughout.
