Ep. 81: TweetJukebox CEO, Entrepreneur, Visionary Tim Fargo

A follow-up conversation with entrepreneur and author Tim Fargo, creator of the Tweet Jukebox about his new venture The Extraordinary Network.

Tim has over 190k Twitter followers and is an incredible networker

  • Tim believes that the only way to be successful is to help others.
  • On Twitter- Created or curated content is OK, just make sure your content is compelling.
  • Stay consistent to your theme.
  • Start off doing your own customer service.
  • Many big companies feel they have a marketing problem, but really they have an execution problem. If they would treat their customers better, they wouldn't have to work so hard to get new ones.
  • A customer who shows up for price, will also leave for price.
  • If you want to start a business, get a job in the industry first. You will be more successful if you learn about a business from the inside beforeyou try to do it yourself.
  • Don't open a restaurant just because you like to eat food. Running a restaurant is different from being passionate about eating.
  • #1 advice for starting a business- KEEP YOUR OVERHEAD LOW.

Ep. 59 The best way to learn BEFORE you make mistakes in business

Call to Action- Get on the map! To get pinned on our listener map answer our 2 question survey at, or tweet out to @DJDoug or @NiceGuyonBiz and say "Put me on the map!" with your location.

Tech Talk- Vimeo and YouTube are both for more than just cute cat videos, they are a great tool for showing off videos of your goods or services and getting the word out to your potential customers.

Signature Advice- Everything (almost) that you need to learn in business has been done before, so why waste your own time and money trying to figure it out on your own? This is the advantage of business advice books, and if you're not reading 1-2 a month, you should be. Here are some of our favorites:

Strick's Favorites:

Tim Ferris- The Four Hour Work Week

Jim Collins- Good to Great or Built to last

Doug's Favorites:

Ken Blanchard- One Minute Manager

Spenser Johnson- Who moved my cheese

Bob Berg/John Mahon- The Go Giver

Of course, both of us love:

Doug Sandler- Nice Guys Finish First

One thing for sure (I say tongue and cheek), I am gainfully unemployable, and for me, that is a good thing. Actually, it’s a great thing. I've invested many years in my "work in progress” attitude and how to balance my business and personal life, weaving them together like a tailor made suit. I deal with the risks of self employment because, to me, they are far outweighed by the rewards offered. (Read more)
